|John Carroll has taught Continuing Education from the inception, 1994. He is also an approved pre and post licensing instructor with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.
John Carroll was elected to the Buncombe County Board of Education in 1976 and 1980 as the “top vote getter” in both elections. He served as a member of the Board, and as the Chairman for one term during this time. John was involved in getting the bill passed to allow the schools to have a half cent of the local sales tax to be dedicated to school construction. This has resulted in Buncombe County Schools building $100’s of millions of schools without it coming from local property taxes.
John Carroll has been on the board of Thoms Hospital (now CarePartners) and served as Chairman of the Board and CarePartners Foundation board and Chairman of this organization too. John has served on both of these boards, the CarePartners/Thoms until 2012.
John Carroll has servedon the YMCA Facilities Committee and was a member of the Board of Directors when they built the South YMCA. John is also a member of the YMCA for over 24 years as a daily swimmer.
John Carroll is a past president of the Asheville Civitan. He was awarded the Civitan of the Year award. He was a member of this organization for over 30 years.
John Carroll was a founding member of the Buncombe County Schools Foundation in 1984, and President of this organization for over five years. They started the School Checks program and worked out cooperative agreements with the Asheville City Schools Foundation.
John Carroll has been awarded the Small Business Leader of the Year award by the Asheville Chamber of Commerce. This is a very competitive award given annually by the Chamber. This was in the early 90’s.
John Carroll has been President of the Council of Independent Business Owners (CIBO) and currently serving on the board of directors. John Carroll was President for the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association (NCREEA) in 2008.
